Purpose

The purpose of the Hope College Massage Therapy Diploma (2200 hour) is to provide students with an optimal educational experience that will qualify them for entry into a career as a registered massage therapist or for further education toward a baccalaureate degree. The program is offered in an environment where the value of integrative
healthcare is celebrated.

Uniqueness

The Hope College Massage Therapy Diploma will offer students a number of unique pedagogical
experienced including:
• small student:instructor ratios offering close mentoring throughout the program;
• immediate access to local practicum placements at Hope Clinic, Drumheller;
• local availability of all practicum clinics to include: Geriatric, Sports, Infant, and Pregnancy Treatments;
• specific biometric self-care techniques to assist in career longevity for the Therapist;
• nutrition, strengthening and stretching techniques to ease the physical demands of performing massage;
• introduction to business structure to establish a money-wise entrepreneur;
• a flexible that allows students to maintain existing career and life-style commitments.

Credentials

• two-year, 2200 hour program;
• licensed through the Private Vocational Training Branch of Advanced Educational and Technology Department of the Alberta Government;
• designed to prepare students for the Massage Therapists Association of Alberta Entry to Practice Examination;
• transfer into degree programs being developed at Hope College.
